Welcome to Beacon Primary Care

We are really pleased to have you join our team. We are quite a large practice, but everyone is VERY FRIENDLY and KEEN TO HELP YOU!

We all want your experience of training with us to be great, so here are a couple of basic pointers.

Feel free to ask— while a lot of basic info is here in the booklet, asking is the only way you will learn about the nitty gritty of our practice

There is no such thing as a stupid question.

If we don’t know the answers, we will try to point you in the right direction.

You will be a valued member of our team.

Practice Profile

13500 patients across 4 sites

Ormskirk: your training base, 4500 patients originally registered here.  Nice market town, surgery in the town centre, lots of local facilities. Mixed urban / rural population.

Cosy premises in town house. You will have a room base here.

Sandy Lane Skelmersdale: the “main brain” of the practice. Originally 5000 patients here, large health centre, we are one of 4 practices.  Weekly clinical meetings here, meet the whole team.

Large treatment room. Less well off population than Ormskirk

Hillside Health Centre: Skelmersdale: one of 3 practices in this health centre, originally 2500 patients registered here, this is situated close to Skelmersdale town centre.

While each of the partners have a room base in one site, we all “hot desk” across the other sites. At first you will be based in Ormskirk, but as time goes on you can experience the other practice sites.
